Mid-Century Wardrobe

Here is a new wardrobe just in. It's a fabulous Mid-Century piece. I really love the clean lines of these modern Scandinavian inspired pieces. We mostly carry items with a shabby chic style but when I found this wardrobe I thought it would be a great addition to the mix in the shop. I like to show my customers that it's okay to mix styles in their homes for an eclectic look.

The wardrobe stands 62" high, 21" deep & 40" wide. It is solid pine construction with wood veneer and even has wheels. Don't you wish everything had wheels? We have priced it at $250.

Garden Progress Report

Progress on our new garden has been slow, mostly due to the weather and the simple fact that I'm undertaking an enormous project while still trying to run my shop. Today I found an "inspiration piece" for the garden while I was at an estate sale. It's a work bench that I'll use in the new potting shed. As Poopsie was hauling this extremely heavy item out of the van he grumbled under his breath, "This isn't a work bench, it's a railroad car!"

Here's a cute old trundle bed that a customer gave me. Can't you just picture it as a "flower bed"?
Poopsie is hard at work finishing up the potting shed. What a good sport.
Tomorrow I'm having a truckload of topsoil delivered and then I can really get my hands dirty! Next weekend, hopefully the work on the chicken coop will proceed.
Bumbee's not so sure about all the commotion in the yard. Just wait until the chickens start chasing her around.

Down on the Farm

Last Sunday we spent Mother's Day at Wheeler Historic Farm. It's a real working farm right in the middle of Salt Lake City. It was a beautiful day. We have had a very wet Spring here on the Wasatch Front so it was nice to be outdoors for a change.

Bumbee certainly enjoyed the sights, sounds and especially smells of the farm. She even took a little dunk in the stream.







What a cute little family of geese. Mother keeps a close watch on her brood of goslings. Being a mother is hard work!

New China Cabinet

Here are some photos of a new china cabinet we just got in. It stands 79" high, is 48" wide and 20" deep. Large enough to house all your china and glassware.

My New Wellies

Since Poopsie and I will be putting in a new garden this Spring (if it ever stops snowing!) I figured I'd need the proper footwear. So I headed out to our local IFA store to see what the professionals will be wearing this season. I picked up this stylin' pair of rubber beauties. They'll be perfect for mucking around in the mud, don't you think?




Of course, whenever I go the IFA store I enjoy seeing the baby chicks. Tomorrow, if the weather permits. We'll commence construction on the new chicken coop. Our neighbor, Bennie bought 14 chicks a few weeks ago and has been keeping them in his basement, much to the chagrin of his wife. The plan is to build the coop on our new piece of land and share the responsibilities of the coop. With 14 chickens we should be able to yield about 50 eggs a week. I'd better brush up on my souffle recipe!



Here is some "wellie" trivia for you: The Wellington boot, also known as rubber-boots, wellies, topboots, gumboots, barnboots, muckboots or rainboots are a type of boot based upon leather Hessian boots. It was worn and popularised by Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington. This novel "Wellington" boot then became a fashionable style emulated by the British aristocracy in the early 19th century.

Beehive Bazaar & Bob Barker

Yesterday, I popped down to Thanksgiving Point in Lehi to check out The Beehive Bazaar. I was quite impressed by the wide variety of imaginative arts and crafts for sale. It's true...this is NOT your mother's craft fair. I even got to see Bob Barker! Take a gander at all the fun stuff on display. Or better yet, head down south and show your support for all the creative local crafts people.


























Don't forget about Mom. Mother's Day is fast approaching and wouldn't she love to receive a wonderful handmade gift from her favorite offspring?
