Gardening Therapy

With all the drama around here lately, I realized I was in need of some serious "Gardening Therapy". If you live here in Salt Lake City, you are aware that our Spring has really just been an extended Winter. We actually had one sunny day this week so I thought I'd better take advantage of the break in the rain and get out there and put some veggies in the ground.

Delusions of Grandma...

Perhaps you've noticed the lapse in my posting to this blog. Well, I have a really good excuse....you've heard that before.

I have just suddenly (and unexpectedly) become a grandmother. It's a long story but one with a happy ending. This has been one of those experiences that makes you realize that life does not always turn out the way you've planned but you try to make the best of things and move forward.

After all, I now have a beautiful new baby grand daughter.

Florida Keys

While in Florida visiting my daughter, Poopsie and I decided to take a drive down to The Keys. The drive from Ft. Lauderdale was well worth the 3 hour trip! The Overseas Highway, sometimes called the "Highway That Goes to Sea" is a modern wonder. The highway stretches out across the ocean for miles and takes you from the mainland all the way down to the southernmost island, Key West.

When we finally arrived in Key West we strolled though Old Town. It is such a charming little beachside community. You feel as if you have been whisked away to an island village somewhere in the Caribbean.



Crystal clear water...the perfect temperature!
Key West is the southernmost point of the continental U.S.A. In fact it is only 90 miles to Cuba.
Lovely European-inspired architecture along shady tree-lined streets.
Can I take this gem home with me....?

The Keys were originally discovered by Ponce de Leon in the 16th century.
Of course, this sign caught my eye.
Wild chickens roam the city parks freely.
Of course Key West was the home of some famous writers including Ernest Hemmingway and Tennesse Williams.

Me and my Poopsie by the sea...it just doesn't get any better!
