ReplyDeleteI have to add another comment because I liked your admonition so much: "Second Hand Chic wants to remind you to shop responsibly this Christmas season: buy local, fairly traded, handmade or second hand items. And above all, Keep Calm and Carry On!"
ReplyDeleteThis reminded me of a lovely shop called Frosty Darling. The darling of Frosty Darling is Gentry Blackburn. She is a painter and creator of objects cute, original, practical, impractical, beautiful, stylish, and so forth. In addition to fabricating such objects, Gentry has a talent for gathering: Her store features many items of her own making, as well as those she has gathered from miscellaneous sources. Frosty Darling offers paying customers the opportunity to possess these items and non-paying customers may revel in the cuteness and fabulousity which abound.
I have personally purchased items for myself and intended as gifts from Frosty Darling, such as: an original western style painting entitled "Rosebud," various shopping bags, wallets, stuffed animals, and candy (that reminds me of my childhood), and a pair of Barakas.
Frosty Darling is located on 177 East Broadway (which is 3rd South just west of the 200 East coordinate) in Salt Lake City. Frosty Darling also maintains a presence on the world wide web http://www.frostydarling.com/about.html
So, I'm sorry for this commercial, but I was inspired to mention this fabulous store and the lovely little lady-shopkeeper, by your suggestion to buy local, handmade, etc
