My New Favorite Colors

I've always been partial to the color green. Lately I've been noticing an old favorite, Kelly Green, popping up everywhere. When paired with a sunny shade of yellow it's a knock out combination of shades with a fun retro vibe.
Remember these cheerful cups from the Seventies, Remember the Seventies?

Here's a softer version of the green/yellow combo in this comforter. Modern and a little more subdued.

A shopping tote made of vintage fabric. Go green!

Nothing lifts your mood like this happy color! A great way to face the long winter months ahead is to surround yourself with warm, sunny colors.

And who could resist this funky green pekinese?

If you are not a fan of bright shades but love the green/yellow combo check out this pretty vintage plate.

A daisy vase will add a right spot to any room.

A vintage bug killing device.

Here's a fun vintage blanket made of cotton so it's washable and not scratchy like some vintage wool blankets can be.

And finally a vintage wall phone. I'm fascinated by the fact that these old phones still work. What other 40 year old device that you know of is still in working order? They just don't make them like this anymore.

I Love Dacshunds!

If you've been following this blog for a while you've noticed the occasional appearance of my little dacshund, Bumbee. I've never had a small dog before but I have been completely smitten by this little mutt. She is the funniest, most adorable dog ever! Here she is patroling the fence last winter. Dacshunds are very watchful and alert. Nothing gets past this one. We refer to her as "five pounds of fury".

One of my customers, Liz with her dacshund, Ginger. We instantly bonded when we started talking about our dogs!

I never imagined I'd be one of those weird old ladies with the spoiled little lap dog. But I seem to spend every evening these days watching the McNeil/Lehrer Report with wee Bumbee snuggled up on my lap. When the AARP card arrived in the mail last month there's no more denial: I am that old lady I thought I'd never be.

Fall Fashions

Fall fashions are here! Just in time for the chilly weather. If you've visited our shop then you know we have our home fashions displayed by color. We have displayed our apparel the same way. It just looks pretty that way. So when someone asks, where do you keep your size 8 pants, I have to scratch my head.

Be sure to stop by soon. 9th east is open! What are you waiting for?

Abandoned Cabin

Across this rickety bridge....

And up these decaying steps....

Lies an old abandoned cabin. It appears it has been unused for several years.

It's a sweet little cabin in the woods, painted a cheerful shade of robin egg's blue. At one time I suppose it was ocupied by a nice family that would spend their weekends there, enjoying the beauty of nature. But now it seems so lonely and sad.

A former occupant even went to the trouble of placing a bouquet of plastic flowers on the door.

Poor little cabin. This is such a lovely spot. I wish I could move in. Just for the chance to ring this cute little bell everyday.

As usual, Bumbee comes along for all of our adventures!

Fall Folliage

This weekend, Poopsie and I went up to the cabin to do some winterizing. I'm glad I brought my trusty camera along. The leaves are just beginning to turn so we were treated to some marvelous scenery.

Every Fall I seem to have the same regret, "I should have spent more time at the cabin this summer." Sigh.

White Pumpkins

While I was a the supermarket this week I happened upon these beautiful white pumpkins. I fell in love so I bought a bunch to use in my fall display for the shop. I thought the creamy pallet inspired by the pumpkins would make an elegant alternative to the traditional earth tone combinations usually associated with this time of year. When perched atop an ivory urn the pumpkins are simply "smashing". What a dreamy centerpiece for your holiday table!

Who says you have to use orange, brown and yellow to decorate with this time of year?
