Don't You Just Love White Paint?

I picked up this buffet at the thrifts this week. It's a well-built piece with great lines but this finnish is so dated.
I primered, painted and distressed it and....oila! What do you think?

Free Rangin'

Apparently, while I was in Hawaii visiting my daughter a couple of weeks ago, Poopsie thought it would be fun to let the chickens out of their pen so they can free range in our back yard. Well, now when I open their gate in the morning to feed them they storm the fence. It seems they've really embraced their new-found freedoms and have become quite the entitled little flock!

We have had some rain here and so they love digging up the moist soil in search of the juciest worms. Delish!
Easter Bunny looks so fetching with the fall foliage as a backdrop, don't you think?

Uppity poultry! Oh well, I guess that's what I get for galavanting off to the islands.

Look how Bumbee keeps watch over the flock as they aerate our lawn. That little dog sure earns her keep.

New Buffet

Check out this fabulous new buffet I found at an estate sale this weekend. It measures 64" across, 20" deep and 36" high. I have it priced at $400.

Wouldn't it be just perfect for all your holiday entertaining?

Call the shop or e-mail me if you have any questions about this piece.

Hilo Farmer's Market

Every Saturday and Wednesday (and pretty much every other day of the week) in downtown Hilo, local farmers set up their stalls offering fresh produce and flowers to the public.
You will find a variety of local fruits and vegetables for sale at very reasonable prices.

There is also an offering of prepared foods and baked goods.

You can see why they call this star fruit.

These lovely orchid plants sell for a mere $8! I wish I could take some home with me.

These flowers arrangements were only $5! Can you imagine!

Can anyone name this mysterious fruit?
Thanks for coming along with me to the Hilo's Farmer's Market.

The Jungle Takes Over

While cruising up the Hamakua Coast on The Big Island I spotted this little gem on the side of the highway. You know I can't resist a decrepit old building, so I pulled over to take a look around. It appeared to have been a storefront at one time. What a shame that it was abandoned.
I wonder if these will fit in the overhead compartment....hmmm.
Look how the jungle just moves in and takes over. In Hawaii, nature is on steroids! These plants have just pushed their way into the cracks of this building.

Great pealing paint. In Hawaii, they call this "Shaka Chic".

Love this old spigot against the yellow background.
A few yards beyond this building is a breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean and here I am taking pictures of a crumbling building....do you think I'm weird?

Back From Hawaii

Here's me soaking my tootsies at the black sand beach. Had such a great time on The Big Island I hated to come home.
