Sugar House Farmer's Market

I just got back from the Sugar House Farmer's Market and I have everything I need for dinner! If you live here in SLC I'm sure you've been to the Downtown Farmer's Market. Since I don't do crowds, the Sugar House FM is more my speed. Check out all the great organic produce as well as other yummy foods....

The Sugar House Farmer's Market is every Friday from 3 PM until dusk. If you need more info check out their FB Page.

Taste of the Nation

A Day at the Beach

The weather here in Utah has been so hot and dry all month at times I have felt I just might dry up and blow away. So this weekend we decided a day at the beach was in order. Just an hour north of Salt Lake City, nestled in the Ogden Canyon is a beautiful spot called Pineview Reservior. A day spent on a sandy beach with clear water and blue skies is all I needed to recharge the old battery.

One World Cafe

We ended up with more herbs in our garden than we could use so we decided to wrap them up and donate them to One World Cafe.
If you've never been to One World Cafe you should check it out. Located at 41 South 300 East in Salt Lake City, the restaurant serves all organic meals in a casual atmosphere. You can pay whatever you can afford for your meal. They accept donations of organic food and much of the labor is volunteer.
Meals are served cafeteria style so you can control your portions so there is no waste.
I chose the Talapia which is a sustainable seafood.
You get the feeling of eating at home with the family except you don't have to cook or do dishes! Everything was just delish!

Peep Show

Here are the latest photos of our little flock. All eleven chickens are happy and healthy. It's been so entertaining watching them grow. I swear they get bigger every day! Yes, I am a proud Mother Hen.

This little Booted Bantam is called Golden Sunshine. I think she's the cutest, don't you agree?

Here is little Easter Bunny.
We call her Raptor Jane. A face only a mother hen could love.
Finally this is one of our Buff Orpingtons, Buffy. She is the sweetest one in the flock. She likes to sit on my lap (the chicken, not the girl, that is.) The girl has gotten to big to sit on my lap.

So all you middle aged ladies out there: If your children have gotten too big to sit on your lap, get some chickens! It's the best way to deal with the "empty nest" syndrome!

Saturday Market at Abode

Today my daughter Heather and I went to the Saturday Flea Market at Abode.

It's a monthly event featuring vintage and craft vendors. Here is a sampling of some of the goods...

The triple digit heat couldn't put a damper on the spirits of these vendors from Solo on Eleventh.
