Acorn Antiques Show

Today Poopsie and I will be attending the Acorn Antique Show at the Weber County Fairgrounds in Ogden, Utah. It's a beautiful day here in Northern Utah. The Wasatch Mountains in the background have been blanketed with fresh snow.
The Acorn Antique Show runs today from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM and tomorrow (2/21) from 10:00 to 5:00 PM. Admission is $5.

Here is Monica Zoltanski, owner of Capitol City Antiques Mall in Salt Lake City. Be sure to check her out on FaceBook. As always, Monica's booth is brimming with lovely and unique pieces.

There seems to be quite the variety of merchandise here today; something for everyone. From the SCARY: a box of old dolls for $25......

To the SUBLIME: this elegant Roseville vase for $900.

Here is my favorite booth of the show. It features antiques and linen grain sacks imported from Eastern Europe. You've no doubt been seeing these sacks everywhere lately.
As explained to me by this fine fellow, some of these sacks are as old as 180 years. They can be machine washed and dried and just seem to get better with age. I was surpised by how soft they were. I can see why they make the perfect upholstery fabric because they are strong yet so supple.
The markings on the sacks identify which farmer brought them to market. I think they're just beautiful! But at $35 a piece I think I'll have to pass.

I see Poopsie is headed for the car with my treasures. Apparenty it's time to go. Hoped you liked the show. Thanks for coming along.
Love, Kelly

  2. Kelly...I was there first thing this morning...saw alot of things that you just pictured. The iron table and chair is my good friend Leslie/gary, she was an avid searcher of best antiques over 20 years ago. she worked for me a little when I had my shop in Ogden. I buy from them at their home several times a year. then you showed the dolls, you should have seen me rummaging through them...I was thinking Halloween the whole time, then I chickened out buying them.
Monica had a very attractive space, lets see, I think she paints furniture and antiques it kind of black, very nice.
what I bought fit in my purse! we took the truck...JUST IN CASE!!!
I also remember the OZ book...seems we are attracted to some of the same things!
It was a big crowd this morning...wow I was impressed and glad. I had several other friends selling...CJ of sock monkey n' around and Marie, former rustic rose owner.
My fav's are the button bracelets...however I just cant bring myself to pay the price...but I should!
I one thing I keep thinking about is the chippy white painted fireplace mantel...and everything in that booth...kind of overpriced (for me anyway) booth but awesome things.
I took my camera...but just got toooooo occupied. I love the antique shows...I am in heaven when I see all the unique items that are still floating around.
It WAS a beautiful day! Thanks for sharing.

  6. Great pics, Kelly. Thanks for posting - you've got a great eye. I loved that box o' dolls, too. Hey great news -- Chris & Dustin will be bringing their wares to Capital City Antique Mall beginning April 1st, so you won't have to wait any more for the shows to get your grain sacks from Europe. And Brenda@BedofRoses, thanks for the nice mention -- the painted furniture featured in our booth this show was by Harper Darcy, one of our dealers who adds custom finishes to antiques to give them a romantic, more-refined-than-shabby look. They have been very popular as they are very well priced. Thanks again!

  12. I attended the show yesterday and it was great! So much lovely merchandise at reasonable prices! It was quite crowded, but well worth the walk through. I actually prefer it much better than the Walter Larson shows...seems like better stuff!
