On The Road Again

Have you watched the new television program, "Man Shops Globe"? It chronicles the travels of Keith Johnson, buyer for the Anthropologie retail chain. Apparently Keith always travels with his hard-sided vintage suitcase. http://www.sundancechannel.com/man-shops-globe/

Here at Second Hand Chic we love vintage luggage also, but not necessarily for travelling. Time worn leather suitcases have a beautiful patina. I believe they can stand on their own as decorative items. They also double nicely as extra storage for all your stuff.

The modern globe trotter often complains about how dificult travelling has become. But can you imagine hauling this enourmous steamer trunk through the airport? It weighs more than your entire wardrobe! I'd rather pay the extra $20 luggage fee!

Even these old logos had style.

Before you hit the road, don't forget to pack your handy dandy travel iron! Since you're on vacation, people will be taking your picture and you want to look your best, don't you?

There are so many fun things one can do with vintage luggage. We want to see YOUR ideas. E-mail your photos of the vintage luggage in your life. All entries will be entered to win this month's drawing: secondhandchic@xmission.com

Just can't wait to get on the road again.

  3. These vintage suite cases are TRULY lovely. Why, you know that I had several that I wanted to bring down to your shop -- I know they are very popular with a certain crowd.... but I could not part with them. I am so sorry.

I will tell you this though, I once bought a lovely set of blue vintage luggage from and estate sale. The lady selling the items almost burst into tears when I bought that set. She opened the clasp on the make up case and asked me to smell it -- the scent of old-time makeup wafted through the air. She said when she was a little girl, she would often sneak a peak into this case and play with her mom's makeup, and still loved the smell that it retained.
